‘Once upon a time on the seafloor of an afternoon when the rivers ran wild and the oceans were full of fish... Times were good, or so they said. So long as the witch down the road let it be. But the truth is...’ 

In this fable, the author explores the complexes we have. Or rather, the fact that ‘complexes have us’, as Jung would say.  They are energies happening within, independently of our will. Bewitching, they have authority, they are autonomous.  We’d better get to know them, find ways of getting on with them. A fairy tale is not about the people in the tale – nor about  its creatures, objects, landscape and buildings.

Guislaine Vincent de Damas, a nom de plume, writes, sculpts, and draws. She is a bilingual French/English psychotherapist based in London.

Consuelo Child-Villiers is a long established artist whose work is widely collected in Europe and North America.
